The Quilt Shop Challenge

Each participating quilt shop will make a "Challenge" quilted piece using specific Hoffman of California fabrics and common guidelines. The quilted pieces will be on display for the entire month of April in each shop.

Shops may create their own pattern, or use a published pattern– whatever they wish. Above all, it is a wonderful way to see the many different interpretations from a common set of fabrics.

The Guidelines

The participating quilt shops have a common set of guidelines to follow, which are as follows.

Each shop receives 1 & 1/2 yards of each of the following Hoffman of California fabrics. We worked directly with Hoffman of California to choose fabrics that would evoke the beautiful waters of Maine, from the deep blue lakes and rivers to the teal-blue sea.

Shops may add up to 4 additional fabrics from their store. No more than 4 additional fabrics are allowed. (8 fabrics maximum)

Sew or affix a label on back with Shop’s Name, Name of Piece, and Dimensions of piece.

Sew a sleeve measuring at least 4” on back.

"Viewer's Choice" Prize Drawing

As you go around to each of the shops in April, please take a look at the shops' Challenge Piece, and please cast your vote for your favorite! (Ballot is on your passport).    We have a random drawing for those who take the time to vote, so there is a prize up for grabs!
