Tips for a Successful Shop Hop!

  • Bring address labels when you hop to quickly enter door prize drawings and enter your information on your passport!

  • Don't forget that your non-hopping chauffeur (in other words, your husband, boyfriend, sister, etc...) should accompany you into each store and enter for the special Chauffeur's prize.

  • Check out all of the different samples made from the Shop Hop Fabric.
Each store has done something different with these same fabrics for our "Shop Challenge"! As a special bonus, this year you may vote on your favorite Challenge Piece when you visit 10 or more stores. (entry is on passport).

  • For the most efficient Shop Hop,group several shops in the same area together.

For example, you could do all of the Midcoast area shops in one weekend and then all of the Downeast area shops the next weekend. We've included a sample breakdown of shops below, but feel free to hop your own way! Organize a carpool with other gals in your area to cut down on fuel costs!

  • Plan your day in advance.
You have the entire month of April to hop, so pick which shops you'll be heading to. (see below for breakdown of shops by area) Make sure the shop's hours will fit with your schedule. You might wish to visit a shop that closes early before some others.

  • Bring a notebook to take notes about each shop - what types of fabrics, what the feel of the shop was. It's hard to remember everything in detail, and will be fun to look back upon when your hop is over!

  • Pick up a class schedule or handout at each shop if they have one. These will be good to look back upon when done.

  • Make a list in advance of items you need for upcoming projects and cross off when you find them. This can also be a type of "treasure hunt" for you - a fun way to find those "wish list" items or needs.

  • Take time at each shop to appreciate the differences! Quilt shops take on the personality of the owner, making each shopping experience a unique one.

  • Hopping is fun with friends and loved ones. The more the merrier. Make a day of it with a group!

  • If you are a member of the Pine Tree Quilter's Guild, bring your card and ask when you get to the counter if you will receive a discount. Some shops offer discounts for being a member.

  • Bring a supply of bottled water and healthy snacks for your travels.
    And some chocolate
